What this class is
MOTS-C is a 16-residue peptide encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene, one of a small number of known mitochondrial-derived peptides. SS-31, elamipretide, is a tetrapeptide that concentrates at the inner mitochondrial membrane by binding cardiolipin. Epithalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide based on a pineal extract. FOXO4-DRI is a retro-inverso peptide built from D-amino acids in reverse sequence, designed to disrupt a FOXO4-p53 interaction. NAD+ is not a peptide at all but a nucleotide coenzyme, included here because it belongs to the same area of study.
