What this class is
Melanotan 1 is a linear alpha-MSH analogue selective for MC1R. Melanotan 2 is a cyclic lactam analogue and is not selective, binding MC1R, MC3R, MC4R and MC5R. PT-141 is a metabolite of Melanotan 2 that lost the C-terminal amide and acts chiefly at MC4R and MC3R. The international non-proprietary names of these two are deliberately not printed here: both name an approved medicine, and putting that name on a research-use-only page reframes the product as the medicine. KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-MSH, lysine-proline-valine, which retains anti-inflammatory activity in the literature without the pigmentary activity of the parent hormone.
