Small synthetic peptides that act at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor, the receptor for ghrelin. A different pathway to the same pituitary cells that GHRH analogues signal, which is why the two families are frequently studied together.
What this class is
GHRP-2 is a hexapeptide from the original growth-hormone-releasing peptide series. Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide developed for selectivity: it was designed to act at the ghrelin receptor without the cortisol and prolactin release seen with earlier compounds in the series.
